I purchased these Jennifer Bernard books on a whim and during an Amazon Daily Deals. I have yet to met (read) an Avon author I haven't loved. Add sexy firefighters and the cute dog on the cover, how could one go wrong? I was right! Devoured the first 3 before I realized I hadn't written a review. In this first installment, you meet all the men from San Gabriel's famous Station 1. Ms, Bernard has this incredible way of making you care for every character from the loud Norwegian owner of the diner, Ms. Gund, that Maribel works at to the lost dog (Z, Buddy, Stan, Hagrid) that brings everyone together.

Maribel, a content fiance of a New York photographer (Duncan) living in San Gabriel raising her son while they wait to set a date for the wedding works at this quaint diner, Lazy Daisy grill, that is frequented by the infamous Bachelor Fireman of San Gabriel.
My goodness, they were like hand grenades of testosterone rolling in the door, sucking all the air out of the room.
Maribel knew all the guys from Ryan to Vadar to... Kirk was back. The quiet Kirk walked into the grill that morning with the rest of the guys. Kirk had been gone for months now, and suddenly he was back and the effect he had on her was back also.
"Eight words. Anyone have eight?"
"He said eight words. I had five. Anyone get closer than five?"
The brotherhood that is shown so quickly in this book is what pulled me in as a reader. Even though the guys were giving Kirk (Thor) a hard time with his shyness around Maribel, they were encouraging and supportive. While joking with each other, you learn so much about each one. By the end of this book, I was cheering for the HEA you get with the main characters and daydreaming about what Jennifer will do with the rest of the bachelors.
When he manages to put more than five words together around her, they are some good ones. Strong words filled with all the emotion you would desire from your true love.
"You're so beautiful," he said in a whisper.
Oddly, that statement seemed to confuse her. "You think I'm beautiful?"
"Why do you think I can never put two words together when I'm around you?"
The struggle Maribel feels between her heart and what she thinks is best for her and her Harry Potter loving son, Pete is intense. As a mother, I understand her desire for the stability Duncan represents, but as a lover of burning (PUN intended) love - I see the attraction that doesn't disappear with Kirk.
The journey to Maribel, Kirk and Pete's HEA was beautiful and full of trouble, bumps, unwanted people, some ditching school, a fire (of course) and Alaska. If you haven't given Ms. Bernard a chance yet, I suggest you pick up this quick (208 page) read and fall in love with the Bachelor Fireman of San Gabriel. I know I did!

The Bachelor fireman and hunky guys looking for love, but when it finds them, they resist. Not highly erotic but enough to keep me interested. I so like all the characters.
My only complaint about this novella is that it wasn't a full novel. I know I'm being selfish, but I wanted more. I love this series of books! I love that you get to find out what previous characters are doing and get tidbits on upcoming characters! Great novella!
This was a nice little romance that had engaging characters that were worth caring about. The supporting cast of characters we're realistic in terms of the interaction, camaraderie and loyalty of firefighters with each other. The plot was believable except for one part that was quite predicable. Overall I was engaged in the story and wish it had been longer.
I really liked Pete. I felt like he has such a good character in him. I kinda wish there was way more back story in all of this though. What happened really to Duncan and what happens after Alaska?
I am going to make a confession before my review of this book! I honestly only wanted to read this book because "Thor" was a character! I love THOR! Now on to my review! I LOVE THOR! This story was a suck you and need to know more of the San Gabriel Bachelor Firemen prequel! It was the perfect book, perfect start of characters and perfect plot to hook line and sinker for the series! Jennifer writes a heart warming story about second chances and romances! Its a great read and and an even greater series!!
One Fine Fireman is book one in Jennifer Bernard's Bachelor Firemen series. This is a novella,but such a great opening to meeting the men of San Gabriel fire station. Kirk or Thor as he's known is a great hero. He's strong and sweet and sexy. Maribel is a wonderful heroine, strong and sweet in her own way. Together they make a great team. The story is fast paced,engaging and well written. I highly recommend One Fine Fireman to all fans of firemen,contemporary romance and wonderfully written stories.
I thought this book was great. Soon as I finish here I am going to see if the other books are out and get them. This fireman is HOT, not perfect, he had skin cancer and is recovering. I like that he has a human side and is working through the cancer issue. The story was moving along at a PG rating and then the sex scenes clicked in and it went right to HOT. His secret crush finally finds out that he is hot for her and things take off. There is a cute 9 yr. old and an adorable dog. You even like the other firemen and can relate to the constant picking at one another men do!! I thought it was very entertaining and I highly recommend it.
