I can never read too many Lindsay McKenna books! Her style of writing grabs you and doesn't let go! The Wyoming Series is filled with stories that you will want to read over and over again.

One of my favorites, Wolf Haven, is an extraordinary book about the power of survival. It is not an easy story, due to the characters' PTSD trauma, but Ms. McKenna handles this topic with such great sensitivity that she paves the way for our heart to handle the stress.

Skylar Pascal, a U.S. Navy Nurse and Former Seal Grayson McCoy have much in common due to their past combat experiences and when they meet to work together at the Elk Horn Ranch Wildlife Preserve in Wyoming, something miraculous occurs.

The love, devotion, emotion and passion soars off these pages as these two unusual individuals find themselves, through each other. All I wanted to do was sit and take it all in, slowly. The magnificence of the wolves and other wildlife in their care brought me to tears and learning so much about them was fascinating.

This book is poignant beyond belief! Please, do not miss reading Wolf Haven! Bravo Ms. McKenna!

Once again Lindsay McKenna does it again. She draws you into caring for Skylar Pascal who has PTSD. You want to find out how she is dealing with it. Then you have this ex Seal Gray McCoy who comes along and just wants to help her....while they are together on the ranch, they rescue a these wolf pups who need them to survive. Skylar and Gray take turns caring for the wolf pups. I find myself not wanting to put down Wolf Haven because I just want to see what happens next. Lindsay McKenna knows her stuff. Meaning she's an amazing writer who just grabs you from the first few words in the chapter...You can pick this book and start to read without needing to read the other books in the series......Love it....
it was a decent read to kill time at the beach. The characters kept saying each others name over and over. I didn't think it would bother me- but halfway through the book it was driving me crazy! no one talks like that in real life. "look jack, we need to go over there" "Ok tina, help me carry this" "jack, it's pretty heavy!" "tina just grab that end and drag" it just got very redundant. I doubt i will bye another book from this author
Lindsay tells a gripping story of two former soldiers who are doing their best to function in life after the military. Grayson McCoy was a former SEAL and Skylar Pascal was a U.S. Navy Nurse. Skylar was captured and tortured after a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. Sky is having a hard time functioning due to having PTSD. Sky is hired by Iris, the owner of Elk Horn Ranch to work with Gray at the Wildlife Center and to also use her nursing skills when necessary. Gray also had to deal with PTSD so can understand what she is feeling and what he can do to help her. While Gray is showing her around they save three wolf cubs (I won’t spoil it with how). So while they take care of the wolf cubs (feedings every few hours) they also grow closer. They have lots of ups and downs. Starts and stops. But eventually they reach their HEA.

This story shows what some of our returning military go through upon their return, some deal with it for the rest of their lives. It also shows that there are people who will go the extra mile whether it be for another person or an animal in need of help. I Loved this book and will definitely read it again. Would really like to visit some place like this and to meet the people who work there.
I loved this book. Trauma... it happens. The scars left behind... well, some heal and some don't. And the ones that don't heal can fade with time. And through it all, if you can find the love and support it takes to rise above the debilitating pull on our souls, then maybe we can survive it.

This story is proof positive that it's possible to overcome tremendous odds. Some of the steps can be made all on our own, because we're strong that way. Some of the steps are made with the help of our support system.

Thank you Lyndsay for sharing this touching story of survival and healing with us. I cannot say enough how much I loved it. I love the strong of body and mind lead characters in this story. I love how it's ok to accept support when offered and then take back control when you're feeling stronger. I loved the serene setting that this story took place in. The lead female character in this story, Sky, is someone I would be able to connect to in real life... hard working, humble, honest, caring, nurturing, self sacrificing, cooperative...

I felt a rollercoaster of emotions throughout this book. Thanks for the ride, the learning experience, and most of all thanks for the happy ending.
When Grayson McCoy met Skylar Pascal, he didn't realize that they were meant to heal each other's pain. Both had been in the military and returned home with PTSD. The horror of the past wouldn't release its hold. Now here at Elk Horn Ranch amid the beauty of Wyoming, they have a chance to find love. Sky is an exceptional woman. She endured torture (water boarding) at the hands of the Taliban, but there is still love in her heart. She's a natural mother who enjoys the outdoors and the wolf pups that she and Gray saved. I was brought to tears when Sky found Justin, the autistic son of a family visiting the ranch, and with her perceptive nature knew how to reach out to him. Grayson is perfect for her. He was in Black Ops and suffered with PTSD so he understands how to help Sky. Lindsay McKenna made me aware of how PTSD destroys a person and those who love them. I learned so much. I couldn't put this book down. The author deftly drew me into this story. It's well plotted and filled with memorable characters and a plot that appealed to both my heart and my mind. Reading Wolf Haven was such an emotional experience that I felt completely wrung out. This book is a tribute to the human spirit. I loved it!
