For me, this is one of those books that really wants to be good. It is on the verge, but it is not quite there. I'm not a fan of the author's style of writing. It gets too descriptive in some areas and not enough in others. A few scenes really had no point and were redundant.

I really wanted to not like Kiegan like we're supposed to, but I had zero feelings. The author was passive in describing why he was so awful. We saw a few instances where he was not very nice and it would be humiliating, but the execution wasn't there for me. Mostly Tina would say something like "he made my life hell." So we are led to believe that he was horrible to her for two years. Granted the thing with Harvard was awful and that alone could make anyone hold a grudge. That's what we are led to believe. Therefore, I have a hard time with the fact that Tina would so easily accept a job from him. Yes, she is desperate, but it took the course of half a meal for her to agree.

The kicker for me was the grammar mistakes. Overuse of commas, incorrect words, run on sentences and incomplete sentences. Also, this is a preference, but I do not like all the adverbs. In almost every sentence there's an adverb. Some sentences have multiple adverbs and sometimes they are even italicized. This was the sentence that made me stop reading. "I made my way slowly through the room, unconsciously going as quietly as I could, like I didn't belong here and if I made any noise I'd be caught and kicked out, sent back to a normal queen room like I was used to." If you are fine with this sentence then the story and characters may be enough for you to enjoy. I stopped at 43%. I hate not finishing especially if giving a review, but I doubt I will get back to this one.

BOSS A Stepbrother Billionaire Romance eBook Victoria Villeneuve Reviews

Lacked a large amount of emotion at the start.
There was no steamy parts where you get drawn into the book.

Also the start and middle of the book was boring with no real plot build up to draw you in.

To me as a reader I felt that the book wasn't thought out throughly.

It felt like it was written by a first time author who seemed to have a great lot of creativity and imagination but did not know how to execute the structure of the book.
Based on my experience reading other similar books the pace was rushed at the start but came to an ending that really was very juicy

I would have liked more details into the behind the scenes of the deep dark secret that made the ending

But there are some positives to the book
I loved the ending it really was an "underdog win out in the end story"
I wish the author bio was not so nondescript as it's clear during the reading of this story that he/she (pen name?) is most likely British. There are certain words and phrases that reveal this and I tend to find that British romance authors are a bit more raw in their style and manner than I prefer. The characters tend to swear much more frequently, which I find distracting, the romance scenes are somewhat more graphic than emotional and overall, there's more of a hard edge to scenes and story lines. For example a skinhead is allowed into the most popular, hip Miami nightclub with a bouncer-protected waiting line at the door so he can terrorize his ex girlfriend at gunpoint and the quasi-hero could jump in and rescue the woman when no one else would help? In addition if the last example wasn't enough, much of the basics are just not believable. The two main characters are supposed to be 19 and 20 years old when we begin the read yet their story line and situations are ridiculously more mature than their ages (about a decade older at least). And finally, while it's clear that the two main characters are not related but rather, step-brother and sister through marriage, the author's extremely frequent references to "brother and sister" taboo sex is again just too distracting and adds an overall gross element to most of the romance scenes. I will avoid this author going forward, even at no cost for the book.
This step-siblings love story started off pretty good by starting in present day and then reflecting back on events from the character's childhood to build the story. There was the love-hate feelings between the characters, and I thought it was going to be great. However, somewhere in the middle of the book, it was like the editor stopped editing. There were many grammatical errors, but even worse, there were continuity mishaps. Finally, when the love connection happened, it almost seemed gross because he had called her "sis" and had been a d-bag to her throughout the entire book. There was no flirtation or build up to indicate they were about to hook up....nothing! Then 3/4 of the way thru the book, the girl reveals her big secret and again, it was out of left field. There was no foreshadowing or any indication that events were about to happen.
I'm not familiar with this author, so I don't know if the problems with this book were a result of an inexperienced author, or if it just needs to go through the editing and revising steps again. I think it is a good story, but it needs a lot of work.
The book had 275 pages or 2723 locations on my kindle. The book was about a girl, named Tina and a man, named Kiegan. Tina's mother married Kiegan's father, when she was, 14 years old. Keigan, who was rich and a year older, began to make Tina's life a living hell. He harassed the insecure girl, by making fun of and belittling her, when ever, he was in the mood. He even stole, her college essay, which possibly cost her an admission to Harvard. The book contained a few so, so sex and oral sex scenes. The Tina character, was weak and irritating. She was tormented, by Keigan for years and yet as soon as he says jump, she says, how high. She forgave and forgot to quickly for my tastes. Kiegan was horrible, and then he was redeemed, all of a sudden, and confessing his love. The book is told, solely, thru, Tina's point of view. You never get to hear his thoughts, which bothered me.
