I bought two copies of Charis - one for my 13-year-old granddaughter and one for me. I picked it up after dinner and started reading, and reading, and...I couldn't put it down! I stayed up until I finished it. I love Charis...not just the book, but the person! And I am in awe of the author's talent and imagination. It's been many years since I've read mythology, but nothing I've ever read made the gods come to life like Nicole Walters did. She has a way of unfolding the story and introducing the characters to us that is just masterful. I can't wait till my granddaughter, whose name, coincidentally, is Grace ("Charis" means Grace) and who is also 13, reads it. I think there will be two more fans anxiously awaiting Charis's return.

I read Charis with my 11, 13, and even my 4yr old joined in.. We all enjoyed it! I recommend this book to everyone if you haven't ordered your copy go! Now! It's remarkable!
I am thoroughly enjoying this book, and am enthusiastically going to buy copies for my friends and their daugthers to read! I love greek mythology and this book is well written and is a joy to read.
I love this story!! I'm a huge fan of Rick Riordan, and I read fantasy of all kinds. Charis is a fun and smart take on classic themes and characters. Walters is a bright and shining new star, and I can't wait to see what she does next.
This is an absolutely must read not only for Tweens but for all. The author, Nicole Walters, does an incredible job holding the reader's attention and wanting more after the last page, leaving the door open for Book 2 in Charis's journey. I hope it is already in work!! The illustrations are creative and capture the essence of the book. Well done, Nicole!
I read this book over the summer and enjoyed it completely...as an adult. So much so that I bought copies for several people in my life. I found the heroine compelling, brave and sweet. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series! In addition to falling in love with Charis and her family and friends, I fell in love with the charming illustrations. This book is a wonderful, engaging read. My advice? Buy it.
Love and know the author from our high school days! The book is as charming and playful as the author! I would recommend this to anyone who loves the fantasy world, has a vivid imagination and wants to be whisked away to the world of colorful make believe! Spoiler heard through the grapevine the author is working on book two and is planning a release soon.
I bought this book out of curiosity -- I'm not normally a fan of fantasy fiction, the lone exceptions to date being the Harry Potter books and one book by Madeline L'Engle. Kudos to Mrs. Walters for crafting a fun, believable story that drew me in and kept me turning pages until I'd devoured the book! Her gift for description and use of humor made this book a treat. I can't wait for the next installment in the series!
